今回はEvery cloud has a silver lining.

「どんな悪いことにも良い面がある。」

について、仙台本校・仙台泉中央校のインストラクターである

Davidから、コロナの影響で世界中が暗くなっている中、

環境・仕事・家族についてのsilver lining （希望の光）について書いてもらいました！

Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining

１　In times like these it can be difficult to see the bright side of things. Because of the coronavirus, thousands of people have lost their lives, economies are being *devastated and many people are losing their jobs. Adding to the stress are strict lockdowns which are *denying millions of their normal *liberties.

２　However, there are a number of surprisingly positive situations *emerging from all this *doom and gloom. On a world scale, the air quality around the globe has improved *significantly. This is due to factories closing down and traffic, both on the roads and the air, down to *unprecedented levels. Even in big cities, everyone can breathe a little easier, *provided they can go outside *occasionally.

３　On the work front, many people are teleworking or working remotely these days. There’s no need to *commute, which saves lots of time and money. Also, many workers are using new technologies for the first time such as ‘Zoom’. They are learning new skills *which otherwise would have probably gone neglected.

４　For families, it has given an opportunity for them to connect more. As I’m writing this, my family is planning a game of monopoly for the first time in a while. I’m also reading to my son more often and we are eating meals together more frequently.

５　On top of all this, Shinzo Abe is sending out 100,000 yen and a couple of masks to everyone. Although this is *definitely not an *ideal situation, we can at least try to *hold on to some of the positives (the silver linings) to try and *keep our chins up. If there are any other positives that you can think of, please let me know.
